Field Research at the Museum of the Franciscan Monastery of Tolisa “The Gate of Bosnia” as Part of the ReDiP Project Activities

As part of the project activities, members of the project team—Associate Professor Lidija Bakota, PhD; Associate Professor Valentina Majdenić, PhD; Associate Professor Jadranka Mlikota, PhD; Associate Professor Vjekoslav Galzina, PhD; and Assistant Professor Damir Tomić, PhD—together with second-year students of the integrated undergraduate and graduate University Teacher Education Programme at the Faculty of Education and Educational Sciences of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek (Ivan Aušprung, Anja Brnjevarac, Dominik Belani, Mirjam Horvat, Anđela Jeleč, and Ana Pavlus), as well as Dora Dulemba, a doctoral student in the Educational Sciences and Perspectives of Education programme, conducted field research at the Museum of the Franciscan Monastery of Tolisa “The Gate of Bosnia” on June 12, 2026.

The research focused on Croatian-language textbooks published outside the borders of the Croatian ethnic and linguistic area from the mid-nineteenth century to the first decades of the twentieth century. Particular attention was devoted to readers, primers, orthographic manuals, language textbooks, Latin grammars written in Croatian, and textbooks aimed at acquiring practical and economic skills.

The analysis and evaluation of the collected corpus will contribute to the further dissemination of the project results through presentations at scientific conferences and the publication of scholarly papers. The digitisation of a selected portion of the materials will enhance their accessibility to the wider academic and social community, thereby further encouraging research into and the preservation of Croatian educational and cultural heritage.
